7th International neonatal nurses conference 2010
Durban, SOUTH AFRICA
In a first for Africa -Neonatal Nursing Association of Southern Africa (NNASA) and COINN are pleased to announce that the 7th International Neonatal Nurses conference (ICNN) will be held at the international convention centre in Durban in October 2010. We are extremely excited and are hoping for a bumper turnout. Lets see if we can have 2010 neonatal nurses in one place in 2010!
Our theme ‘Excellence against all odds” reflects the commitment of neonatal nurses around the world to constantly strive to give of their best and achieve excellence even in the midst of adversity. What better continent to showcase this than Africa?
As countries around the world struggle to achieve the millennium development goals by 2015 - Africa is trailing, and in particular in reducing neonatal deaths by 2/3rds.This conference will be a great opportunity to put the spotlight on the standard of neonatal care offered on our continent and hopefully increase governmental awareness of and drive to alleviate the problems currently experienced by neonatal practitioners in Africa.
As we share the excellent care that is available in our country/continent we will learn and benefit from the international skills and experience of our colleagues in order to work on problem areas. It will be an opportunity for learning and development, for exposure to new technologies and clinical practices and to establish support networks and communication for neonatal nurses around the globe.
In an effort to boost moral and encourage nurses we will also launch the 1st International Neonatal Nurse of the year award recognizing and rewarding excellence in neonatal nursing.
Watch this spot for exciting developments and news of our scientific program. We hope to see you there enjoying our warm hospitality (and of course our sunny sandy beaches and wonderfully rich wildlife!)
