The Council of International Neonatal Nurses (COINN) is delighted to extend
heartfelt congratulations to our Board Member and Non-Executive Director, Dr.
Shela Hirani, on her induction as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing
(FAAN).
This prestigious honour recognises Dr. Hirani’s exceptional contributions to nursing
science, education, policy, and practice on a global scale. Her work has consistently
advanced the health and well-being of newborns, mothers, and vulnerable
communities, particularly in underserved and emergency contexts.
As an accomplished researcher, educator, and advocate, Dr. Hirani’s leadership has
influenced policies and programs that improve neonatal and maternal health
worldwide. Her recognition by the Academy is a testament to the power of
compassionate, evidence-based nursing and its ability to drive systemic change.
At COINN, we are proud to have Dr. Hirani as a guiding force in our ongoing mission
