As the Council of International Neonatal Nurses, Inc. (COINN) prepares for its upcoming conference in May 2024 with the theme “SUPPORTING CLOSENESS BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS”, it is partnering with the Nigeria Society of Neonatal Medicine (NISONM) that supports a Neonatal Nurse Training/Post Diploma Program inclusive of neonatal clinical courses. A team of six experienced neonatal nurses led by a COINN neonatal nurse educator from Ghana will travel to Nigeria to provide bedside mentorship support to newly trained neonatal nurses in six tertiary hospitals from six different states including: Lagos University Teaching hospital, Lagos; university college hospital (UCH), Ibadan; Federal medical center, YOLA; Federal medical center, Asaba; University of Abuja Teaching hospital, Abuja, and University of Nigeria teaching hospital, Enugu.
The goal is to improve the bedside skills of neonatal nurses and help with the implementation of theoretical knowledge acquired towards improving the quality of care for newborns and family using the COINN Neonatal 12 module orientation program.
The team will be in Nigeria for a period of 4weeks from 17th February to March 16th 2024.
