Welcome
COINN Zambia, 2025
On behalf of the Council of International Neonatal Nurses, the Neonatal Nurses Association of Zambia and Newborn Support Zambia, we welcome colleagues locally, nationally and internationally to attend our 3rd COINN Africa conference in the beautiful city of Lusaka, Zambia. The dates for the conference, the 14th and 15th August are especially significant, with August 15th being International Neonatal Nurses’ Day.
The Venue
Mulungushi International Conference Centre
Our conference will be held in the internationally recognized Mulungushi International Conference Centre, Great East Road, Lusaka, Zambia. https://www.micc.co.zm/. In 2022, a new wing of the conference centre was completed, the Kenneth Kaunda Wing which has expanded the conference centre and allows the MICC to provide a world class service. It is here, that we will host our conference.

Dr. Queen Dube
Newborn Health Program Lead, WHO HQ, Switzerland
Dr. Queen Dube is a consultant paediatrician and clinical epidemiologist. She currently serves as the Newborn Health Program Lead at WHO Headquarters in Switzerland.
Samantha Munang'andu
University of Zambia, Neonatal Nurses Association of Zambia
Samantha is a neonatal nurse and chair of the Neonatal Nurses Association of Zambia.
Dr. Kunda Mutesu-Kapembwa
University of Zambia, Newborn Support Zambia
Dr. Kunda Mutesu-Kapembwa is a Paediatrician and Neonatologist working in Zambia.
Dr. Alex Stevenson
President of the African Neonatal Association, African Neonatology Association-ANA
Alex Stevenson is a Zimbabwean neonatologist, based in Harare Zimbabwe. He trained in Cape Town and Zimbabwe.

Clinical Professor Karen Walker is a Neonatal Clinical Nurse Consultant at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney and a Clinical Professor, Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney.
Dr. Leah Greenspan
Senior Newborn Advisor and Neonatologists at USAID Global Health.
Dr. Leah Greenspan is a board certified Pediatrician and Neonatologist. She has worked clinically in the Washington DC area for almost 20 years.

COINN encourages neonatal nurses to join their national (in-country) organisation. If there is no national organisation you may join COINN and receive a discounted rate to attend the conference.
