The COINN Education Committee is a global collective of neonatal nursing professionals dedicated to advancing education, advocacy, and best practices in newborn care. Our members represent diverse regions and experiences, working collaboratively to develop resources, shape educational strategies, and support neonatal nurses around the world.
Through shared knowledge and inclusive dialogue, we aim to strengthen neonatal care globally — one idea, project, and partnership at a time.

Meet Tracey Jones the Committee Chair
Tracey Jones is the Education Chair of COINN and a passionate advocate for advancing neonatal nursing education across the globe. Based in the UK, Tracey brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and vision to the committee, fostering international collaboration and innovation in neonatal care.
She leads with purpose, compassion, and a strong belief in the power of shared knowledge to transform outcomes for newborns and their families.

Nurturing Newborns: Advanced Care for the Sick Neonate

Please join the COINN team to learn the management of sick neonatal patients after delivery and admission to the NICU. Discussion of the initial assessment will include recognition of warning signs, prophylactic and immediate interventions. Management of respiratory, nutrition, and thermoregulation aspects will be addressed. The presentation will cover an overview of the best practices for managing critically ill neonates in the NICU, ensuring their stabilization and ongoing care.

Dr. Mary Ani-Amponsah is a senior faculty member at the Maternal and Child Health Department, University of Ghana. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing/Psychology, MPhil in Nursing, and Doctoral degree in Nursing with a focus on newborn health.

Fauste Uwingabire, is a neonatal nurse specialist with a MScN. She works at partners In Health/ Inshuti Mu Buzima (PIH/IMB) as a neonatal nurse clinical Instructor for the last 3 years. Uwingabire joined PIH/IMB after 10 years working experience at University of Rwanda- School of Nursing and Midwifery as a nurse educator...

NEONATAL NURSE EDUCATOR
Redeat Workneh, MPH, BA, RN-Neonatal Nurse Educator (Ethiopia)
Redeat Workneh is currently working lecturer at St Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College, School of Nursing, Department of Neonatal Nursing. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate neonatal nursing students. She also assumes the role of a clinical nurse educator in the NICU in the same hospital.
